IndustrialNow provided Siemens Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Pilz PNOZ Multi Safety relay, Scalance Managed Network and Philips Dynalite Lighting Control System design, procurement, programming & commissioning services to Live Element for safe control of the gas burners, blowers and control valves, water cooling & recirculation systems and the perimeter feature lighting of the Caspian Eclipse Cauldron and Infinity Pool for the first European Games held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Operating on a strict 11-week time frame, IndustrialNow dedicated multiple engineering resources to ensure that the design of a Siemens Simatic control solution was tailored for the safe operation and control of the symbolic Caspian Eclipse Cauldron and Infinity Pool. Factory Acceptance Testing was performed in Australia prior to the shipping of the equipment to Azerbaijan, where IndustrialNow provided both on-site and remote international backup operational support during the critical Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Despite the elevated levels of redundancy required, the system was designed with an inherently flexible approach, allowing our Lead Engineer and customer operators to programmatically modify the system onsite, via the HMI’s, with any parameter or sequential operation changes necessary. IndustrialNow provided the HMI’s with integrated procedure check lists for start-up, shutdown and system recovery procedures along with comprehensive documentation for diagnostic, emergency and operating procedures – ensuring that the safety requirements of the publicly accessible system were upheld on a 24/7 basis for the entire duration of the games from its timed and sequenced ignition during the Opening Ceremony through to its sequenced extinguishment during the Closing Ceremony.
